Annual Family Holiday Night Brings Joy and Festivity to the Dragon Community

The Dragon community gathered for the much-anticipated Annual Family Holiday Night on Dec. 12, 2024 – and it was nothing short of spectacular!
The event, held in the Craig Long Commons, was a heartwarming celebration filled with laughter, creativity, and holiday cheer.
A Chili Cook-Off kicked off the fun, with staff and parents showcasing their culinary skills. The aroma of various chili recipes filled the air, making it a tough job for the judges to pick a winner. Meanwhile, the Cake & Cookie Walk was a “sweet” success, with participants eagerly vying for delicious homemade treats.
For the tech-savvy and curious minds, the Holiday Coding station was a hit. Kids and adults alike enjoyed learning basic coding skills through fun, holiday-themed projects which coincided with HOUR OF CODE week. The Crafts and Coloring corner was bustling with activity as children created beautiful holiday decorations and colored festive scenes recognizing holiday celebrations from around the world!
The event was filled with the sounds of the season, thanks to Holiday Music and Holiday Karaoke. Families sang their favorite holiday tunes, spreading joy and laughter throughout the venue. The Sasebo Tops performance added a unique cultural touch, captivating the audience with a favorite and loved Sasebo Tradition.
The Sasebo Elementary PTO was on hand, selling spirit wear to help families show their community pride. EJ King Middle/High School student volunteers also played a crucial role, serving delicious popcorn and hot cocoa, which were perfect for the chilly weather.
"A huge shoutout to the EJ King Wrestling team for all their hard work with setup and decorating for the event,” said Sarah Click, who organized the event. “They are amazing student-athletes! Way to go, Cobras!"
Overall, the Annual Family Holiday Night was a resounding success, bringing together families and friends to celebrate the holiday season in a warm and festive atmosphere. This event would not have been possible without volunteer support. It was an event filled with joy, creativity, and community spirit, leaving everyone looking forward to next year's celebration.
